Postdoctoral Fellow Position in Atmospheric Chemistry Related to Reactive Nitrogen

April 9, 2024
The Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University invites applicants for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in Prof. Emily Fischer’s research group. The Fischer Research Group is a collaborative, creative and engaged community of leaders in the exploration of improving the understanding of the sources, fate, and impact of both oxidized and reduced nitrogen through data collection, analysis, and modeling of new observations.
The individual in this position will perform research focused on oxidized and reduced nitrogen. Specifically, they will operate, deploy, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate sophisticated instrumentation for obtaining in-situ atmospheric observations and other related systems. The exact scope of the work will depend, in part, on the individual’s skills and interests. The position is funded by federal grants.
A successful candidate will have:
·       A Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, atmospheric science, or a related field with a background in measurement technologies and atmospheric chemistry.
·       Prior hands-on experience with atmospheric chemistry gas-phase measurement techniques including but not limited to spectroscopy, chemiluminescence, and/or chromatography.
·       Experience using standard laboratory equipment for instrument diagnostics and troubleshooting.
·       Experience writing data acquisition programs in LabView
·       Teamwork experience in field projects, previous practice with data analysis, assessment of complex multi-instrumental datasets
·       Demonstrated experience writing and publishing scientific results in leading journals
·       Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
