UC Berkeley is renowned for its groundbreaking research in numerous fields of research, which boasts countless contributions from its outstanding postdoctoral scholars. Even though this research is celebrated throughout the year, the Visiting Scholars and Postdoc Affairs Office (VSPA) and UC Berkeley will come together during National Postdoc Appreciation Week to recognize another year of achievements from our successful cohort of postdocs next month.
The VSPA will celebrate UC Berkeley postdocs who hail from all over the world by hosting a series of events the week of September 16, 2024. The weeklong itinerary is a mix of career advice from former Berkeley postdocs and social events where there will be networking opportunities with other postdocs from across campus accompanied by delicious food and drinks. The first social event is our coffee social hour, Postdocs, We Love You A Latte. Feel free to invite your supervisor to accompany you for coffee, delicious treats, a gift from VSPA, and raffle prizes!
The main event will be the PostdocFest dinner where the Vice Chancellor for Research, Dr. Katherine Yelick will present the Postdoc Achievement Award and the Faculty Award for Excellence in Postdoctoral Mentoring. NPAW festivities will kick off with a Cal Football Men’s Game versus San Diego State and end the week with a Women’s Volleyball game between UC Los Angeles and UC Berkeley.
For a far-reaching audience, we are also calling on all postdoc supervisors to join our #ShoutOutYourPostdoc campaign during the NPAW week. The campaign asks supervisors to spotlight their postdocs on their social media platforms to recognize the great contributions their postdocs have achieved this past year on this special occasion. Don’t forget to use our special hashtags!
