DEIB

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging

Explore the wide-ranging efforts and contributions that the University of California makes to DEIB across our campus and systemwide.

VSPA

VSPA believes that contributions to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) is vital to the work we do for the communities we serve and we strive to live by our mission and values every day. VSPA hosts DEIB workshops and seminars for its community every semester, and partners with other UC campuses and institutions to diversify our DEIB offerings.

Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB)

The Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) fosters community and engagement for staff employees, develops programs and experiences for employees to increase their racial literacy and cultural fluency, and is committed to creating a community where all employees have the capacity, agency, and comfort to be their authentic selves at work everyday. The DEIB Office engages the campus community in transforming their consciousness, cultivating skills, and providing resources to rid UC Berkeley of all forms of racism and sexism. They do this through providing high-quality professional learning experiences, producing and dissemination of useful tools, consultations and strategy advising, and substantive partnerships.

Division of Equity & Inclusion

The Division of Equity & Inclusion advocates for equity by providing programs and services that lead to academic access and success for students, pathways to leadership and advancement for staff, building equitable structures with faculty advisors, and closing opportunity gaps for our most marginalized groups.

Othering & Belonging Institute

The Othering & Belonging Institute at UC Berkeley brings together researchers, organizers, stakeholders, communicators, and policymakers to identify and eliminate the barriers to an inclusive, just, and sustainable society in order to create transformative change.

UC Berkeley Chancellor Carol Christ

One of Chancellor Christ's "most important goals for Berkeley is to advance and expand diversity on our campus, in its broadest sense and every form." Peruse the many initiatives our Chancellor has underway to increase facultystaff, and student diversity.

University of California

Diversity is a defining feature of the University of California and we embrace it as a source of strength. Our differences — of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, socioeconomic status, abilities, experience and more — enhance our ability to achieve the university’s core missions of public service, teaching and research. Visit the university's diversity page to learn about the systemwide initiatives and other resources.
